Account Bans and Closure

full image - Repost: Account Bans and Closure (from Reddit.com, Account Bans and Closure)
Hello all,I wanted to bring attention to the reddit community something that just happened to me within the last 2 hours. I have been playing World of Warcraft since it's original shelf launch in 2004, at which time I was about 21 years old. I was in the military at the time (stationed in Fort Bragg NC) and an avid lover of all things Warcraft. I still remember in an Electronics Botique when someone handed me a box with title "Warcraft: Orcs vs Humans". Now I was a Wizardy kind of fellow, but thought hey what the heck, I liked Masters of Magic, maybe I can get behind this new thing called RTS. After editing my Autoexec.bat and Config.sys to free up enough resources to boot this hog, I finally got to see what they hype was all about. And from that day forward from Warcraft I to Tides of darkness and Diablo, Starcraft and so many other games that literally helped raise me into adulthood, I was in love.I wish this was going to be a positive post, but unfortunately it is not. Through the years I played WoW and raided pretty hardcore. In it's original release I was fortunate enough to find a horde guild on the Greymane server where I could play as an awesomely desirable Resto Shaman (stacking that mp5 the way we foolishly did back then). Unfortunately with a world at war, my had large breaks in my playing time, missing most of TBC and the beginning of Wrath. After I finally discharged in August of 2009, I came into WoW again, this time returning as a Death Knight. I got to return to prime time raiding, even more so then before as proceeded to enter college with my GIBill. Probably spent far too much time gaming at that. I raided all through the rest of Wrath, and through Cata peaking at some pretty impressive numbers on WoWprogress. MoP was releasing and unfortunately I believe I got swept into the hype of many other "next big MMOs" and the anti-panda propaganda. To finish summing this up I pretty much continued on to play most of every retail expansion to date, on and off.Classic Release: Upon classic releasing I made a hunter and played its launch. My friends, and family were all interested. My wife even started inquiring, and I said well do you want to try it? So I set her up an email while she was at work and popped up a throw away account on it. I knew getting her invested would be difficult and I'd probably need to level with her on and off. So I threw up an account on a maildrop email. At the time you could put phone numbers and authenticators up on multiple accounts so I didn't think much of it. I had no intention of being serious about these at the time. But long story short, we actually leveled to 60, me on a mage and her on a shaman. My hunter on my original retail account actually just started collecting dust at 49 where it still is. I actually became a fan of the mage and was going to start raiding on that but there was a pretty high demand for shamans so I ended up raiding BWL, AQ40, Naxx 40 on Earthfury PVP. For any that know that server, they're familiar with the griefing on world buffs that occurred by one TinyViolin. So we moved all toons to Ashkandi for TBC. Due to some burn out I actually took a break after we had TK/SSC on farm and returned for Sunwell. I boosted a rogue on my shamans account and bought the Northrend epic upgrade. I was kind of on the fence but enjoyed the portability of the mage at least for portals on convenience so I went ahead and bought the epic northrend upgrade bundle and boosted him as well. Over all that time I had worked on tons of achievements, farming, making gold, was an active member in my server community and raider in the guild. I never thought the accounts being made with throw away information would bite me so obviously. Approx. 2 weeks ago I had to mess around with an old phone number on one of the throw away accounts. After providing the information customer service had no problem removing the #. But I noticed now each account had to have it's own unique phone number AND authenticator. Ironically 2 out of the 3 still had the same authenticator. So I just used my wives phone/authenticator app and attached them to the unprotected account. Of course it didn't take long with traveling for work and occasionally needing to authenticate and having to wait for her to click the button, I decided screw this: I'm going to petition to just have all these accounts merged under my original retail account. I had no issues paying for them separately if need be, but at least this way I could protect them all with one phone number and authenticator I controlled. I placed this ticket about 2 weeks ago. Now somewhere in the past 3 years I did realize these were no longer trash accounts and actually moved them onto gmail accounts I created and linked into my main gmail account. It was actually in doing this any new game with a sub model/MMO/login criteria initiated me into making separate gmails for seeing how easy it was and this could act as a layer of protection. Below are the progress of those tickets. Obviously what you can't see are posted pictures of transactions between my paypal, the game accounts etc over the past 3 years. I was able to provide addresses lived at etc.https://ift.tt/985sL3l believe I attached all the pictures appropriately. It turns out after review they reverted the accounts to all the original data, including emails. After I realizing what had occurred (At first I was in a panic I somehow got hacked past an authenticator and a phone number) I immediately regained access to at least one of the old emails (my wifes account was made on a gmail account she still had on browser, but the maildrop.cc address didn't have a mail box anymore). So the shaman/rogue account I get loaded back up.....to find that they not only reverted but they banned the account too.....Never was there a report of foul play on the account. Never had anyone tried to retrieve the accounts as if I was not the owner. I had every detail, charge and other detail on the account from its creation. I had no idea that it was a permanently bannable offense to use credentials that were "not real". But that's exactly the explanation. Obviously had I known this I would not have petitioned to have them merged for security. The loss of time and effort and even money....3 years of subbing, 2 northrend upgrade packs, 2 burning crusade upgrade packs ($100 ea). Both are subbed for a year. My mage whom was my main in Naxx...I just spent the better part of 2 months farming insane in the membrane and was down to my last 3000 pirates. The loss is almost dizzying. I deep inside I know there is not a single iota of a thing I can do about it.Thanks for listening.
