I can't show you the previous iterations of the query, but I hope some of you could share your opinions on this one.Dear [Agent],I'm seeking representation for VENUSIAN LEGEND, an 87k YA coming-of-age sci-fi novel with series potential. It will appeal to fans of edge-of-your-seat narratives as seen in Charlie Jane Anders' Victories Greater than Death, enemies to allies dynamics like in Alechia Dow's The Sound of Stars, and a fully asexual cast akin to the representation in both.Seventeen-year-old Rita thinks she's a normal human teenager, until one night her reality of living with her father on an Australian farmland comes crashing down. Everything disappears, her body turns to dust, and she wakes up galaxies away from Earth—as a nearly agender, felinoid alien. If that wasn't enough, she quickly finds out that her life was an illusion while a system grew her body, and since everyone in her race is a genetic mix-and-match, they have no concept of a family.But she knows her father exists, and she would bet her life that she has a mother, aunts, and siblings, too. She begs her people to look into her claims, and when they turn out to be true, instead of a grand renuion, only a reluctant admission awaits her. The system shouldn't make relatives, and they're wary of how Rita came to be privy to such knowledge.Stubborn to the bone, Rita defies conventions, and refuses to brush aside her findings. Her outrageous attitude softens her relatives, and with a couple of friends, she brings together a family that no one can take away from her. Except for an undercover agent lurking amongst them.
