This is going to be somewhat detailed, so im going to break this into sections and you guys can respond to whatever section you want. I already tried posting this but unfortunetly a few of the links I used in the second section use a source that is banned on reddit. The links dont show much, just screenshots of linkedin profiles that prove these people have previously worked for a government agency but now work for big tech. So I had to remove the links but I guess just take my word for it.Government contractsPublished research has revealed the thousands of deals the Department of Defense and federal law enforcement has secured with the likes of Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Dell, Facebook and other companies. A majority of these were subcontracts, where the government contracts with one company, which contracts with another company to complete any obligations it may not have the resources to fulfill. Amazon and Google have agreed to more than 250 subcontracts with the military, ICE and FBI since 2016 alone. Many of these subcontracts involve using their cloud and data processing capabilities. For example, in 2020, ECS Federal announced a newly expanded partnership with Google Cloud to include integrations with Google Analytics and Google Maps. Not too long after, ECS Federal received a new $83 million contract for prototyping artificial intelligence platforms for the Army. Google has been financially intertwined with US intelligence agencies since its very inception when it received research grants from the CIA and NSAMembers of intelligence agencies now work in Big TechMany of these Tech comapnies such as TikTok, Google, Youtube, Facebook/Meta, and Twitter have directly recruited veterans of the FBI, CIA, NSA and other government agencies to work for them. Here is one article on the many CIA veterans who've been hired to help Google decide what information gets seen in its searches and on Google-owned platforms like Youtube, many of these ex-CIA agents now work for Googles Trust and Safety division. Google is easily the most influential corporation on earth when it comes to public access to information. This second report talks about the many veterans of US intelligence branches now working in high-level positions within Facebooks parent company, Meta which help determine what information gets visibility on the company's social media platforms. Meta's "senior product policy manager for misinformation" was hired straight out of the Central Intelligence Agency in 2019, and now controls information on FB, insta and Whatsapp. Finally, another article that describes that NATO recruits that work in influential positions within TikTok, particularly around Global Policy, and Trust & Safety policy. TikTok has deleted more than 320,000 Russian accounts and removing at least 41,000 videos peddling "misinformation" about the war. I can provide other examples but you guys get the point.Fact checkersFact-checkers have become very popular recently. I mean, this is unironically 1984. Facebook, the largest social media platform in the world - where people regularly get their news, openly enlists NATOs Atlantic Council to help it determine what content to censor and what to boost. FB has stated that if the Atlantic Council deems a page or domain guilty of spreading false information, it will reduce the distribution of all of their page-level or domain-level content on FB. Even the supposed "independent" fact-checking organizations FB has partnered with to control misinformation on the Russia-Ukraine war, are actually funded by the US government through the NED. One of the most well-known fact checkers is StopFake which is also funded by the Atlantic council, by the British foreign and commonwealth office and the British Embassy in Ukraine.The government decides "authoritative content" regarding major political issuesPress Secretary Jen Psaki told the press "we're flagging problematic posts for Facebook that spread disinformation." and that they have a list of accounts who produce this problematic information. They out to get you. They did the same thing regarding anything that possibly compromised election integrity. Youtube CEO and the CEO of Google's parent company, Alphabet, have also admitted they use algorithms to elevate "authoritative sources" while suppressing "borderline content" not considered authoritative. Since the start of the war in Ukraine, Twitter has been aggressively elevating US narratives about the war using its public Twitter "Topic" function, including that shady ass source Kyiv Independent. Twitter loosely labels any account as "Russia state-affiliated media" or Chinese state-affilated media", even if they simply work for a local news network. This makes it seem like its content paid off by the Kremlin while all the western media, which is actually funded by the US government, is free. Twitter has also announced it outright bans or reduces the visibility of any government account belonging to states that limit free speech and are engaged in armed conflict. So now you have a bunch of random twitter users who've been given this label and are shadowbanned for defying the western narrative. Otherwise it places warning labels that tell you, you are committing wrongthink. Ironic isnt it? And look at the criteria that defines a state-affiliated media account: somehow BBC is politically independent?I dont care what your political opinions regarding these subjects are. If you dont think its a problem that the government gets to decide what is problematic and authoritative, then you are an ally to the bourgeoisie and you are giving them more capability to control our speech online.
