I was seriously considering moving my startup infrastructure to AWS - but something went wrong

<a target="_blank" href="I was seriously considering moving my startup infrastructure to AWS.I’m building Hack Admission — an AI-powered education platform for IELTS learners and university applicants. Like many early-stage founders, cloud credits and startup support matter a lot to me.Recently, I had a call with a Kiro/AWS representative from the UK regarding startup onboarding and Kiro. After that conversation, I understood that my startup was eligible for Kiro support, and I later found an active Kiro-specific credit in my AWS Billing account:Credit name: AWS promotion - Kiro Pro Plus 2026Credit amount: $960Status: ActiveApplicable products: KiroNaturally, I expected to activate Kiro Pro+ and use the credit.But the activation failed.Kiro subscription provisioning failed in AWS Console.Kiro IAM Identity Center login showed: “profileArn is required but could not be resolved.”The backend returned: “Your account is not authorized to make this call.”After multiple support interactions, AWS Support told me that my account “does not currently meet the eligibility requirements” to provision the Kiro Pro+ entitlement.https://preview.redd.it/xut4pcnffb8h1.jpg?width=1278&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1cea0120c82f88840971c02c9039a9c01c3db263This is what I still cannot understand:How can an AWS account have an active Kiro-specific credit, applicable only to Kiro, but still be blocked from activating the Kiro Pro+ subscription required to use it?I’m not asking for new credits.I’m asking to use the credits already visible in my AWS account.For early-stage founders, this kind of support experience is exhausting.We are already barely standing on our feet: building products, finding users, fixing bugs, handling payments, and trying to survive. When a cloud provider offers startup support, founders expect clear onboarding, transparent eligibility, and real answers — not generic template responses and hidden internal rules.Today, I decided to move my server plans to Microsoft Azure instead.My Microsoft for Startups / Azure request for around $5,000 in support was approved within hours, and the difference in founder experience was obvious.This made me rethink whether AWS is the right partner for my startup at this stage.AWS is an amazing platform technically.But trust is not only about infrastructure.
