Never payed much attention to this topic until now, of course because a bad sale has happened to me. This car was registered to seller with clean title and smog was done late December 2024.I didn't know it needed to be within 90 days. Tried to register it and it failed smog because of electrical tampering,and only,10 codes cleared for EVAP system,missing one cat and the other is wrong.This smog guy I use tells me he sees all sorts of illegal stuff and offers for bribes to just pass cars smog.Now thus seller is telling me he'll fix it by getting it smogged. Obviously whoever is touching it is doing hack jobs,it's not supposed to be legal to put on old cats or the wrong ones.Thought I was nuts and found a few Craigslist ads where these guys offer to take car to get it smogged for a few. I can't believe there aren't protections for this and used car buyers???
