Hello!I am a recent graduate and I am having issues with my student apartment landlord. I left a couch for mutual tenants and this was okayed by the landlord. We were told (via email from him to the tenant taking the couch) to leave their contact information on a sheet of paper and leave it in there. We moved out 5/20 and have been asking him about our security deposit he said it was in the mail on 6/14. We emailed him today and he now told us we left a couch and he kept our entire security deposit ($1030) because of having to throw it out. We were told by the girls who were taking the couch that "it didn't fit" and they told them they would remove it by the end of the day. The maintenance men then took it upon themselves to hack saw the couch apart and remove it themselves.From what we saw, we should have been given notice to get it off the premises or he should have given receipt of the deductions from our security deposit within 30 days. None of this information was communicated with us (even from the girls) until we prompted today. I talked to him today on the phone and he was NASTY or I probably wouldn't care tbh. Do I take him to small claims?Location: Pennsylvania
