Why is my duo mobile app in German??

When the IT staff at my school helpedMe install it it was in English. This month I opened the app and it's randomly in German and I don't know how to change it back. I tried changing the language settings on my device to see if that made a difference and it didn't. When I googled the problem all I got was posts referring to this subreddit about others having the same problem. Is this just users being hacked?
