Watched this last week on MUBI and I’ve watched it 3 times now. I haven’t felt so connected to a movie like this maybe ever. Feel jealous for those of you who got to see in a theatre setting (it’s not in theatres where I live in Hawaii). Couple questions just for fun: 1) Did Elisabeth really accept herself at the end? Or was she just disassociating/delusional? I question her acceptance because even during the final scene with her Face Placenta Blob on the Hollywood star, she envisioned people complementing her beauty. She was still gaining her worth/peace from external sources instead of inside herself. What do you think? I like the part staring up at the palm trees, something about that visual seemed to indicate she was at peace finally. 2) were there any parts of the movie that made you actually gag? For me, when old hag Elisabeth hacked the loogie I uncontrollably gagged (every time haha but I can’t look away for some reason). I was so pleased that the movie didn’t end at the Monstro Elisasue reveal. I actually stopped the movie to see how much was left cause I was like “it Better not end here!”. Someone else on here referred to the crazy blood faucet at the end symbolizing period blood, that resonated with me a lot. Like oh you value fertile nubile woman? Well Here you fuckin go! Someone else also mentioned some Alice in wonderland vibes, I got that too (going down the rabbit hole into the pickup location and Harvey had major Mad Hatter energy. Anyway great film, nice to see something new that’s artistic and meaningful for once
