Better For A Game Or Book?

I'm looking for something new and different to do with my next writing project. In the process of sifting through ideas, I came across one for an unusual planet. The surface of said planet would appear 'normal' from a geological, meteorological and biological perspective. The climate and atmosphere would resemble Earth; there would be continents with life forms teeming on them. However, below the surface of the planet would be a condensed, open space, an extensive series of caves and tunnels. These tunnels would be formed from a type of stone far denser than would be found on the surface, giving it a hardness to rival diamond. Pockets of water would seep into these lower areas from time to time, along with residual biological detritus, eventually resulting in the growth of life. These life forms would possess a few similarities to life on the surface, but take on far heartier and more aggressive forms from the lack of light, and the source of the energy that has condensed the stone.Below the cave system would be the heart of the planet, whose central core would be hotter than that of Earth's due to massive energy and radiation release from an ongoing chain of atomic explosions. The gravitational pull of the central mass would be powerful, with gas instead of magma being the only matter to escape, pressing outward. This ongoing reaction has hardened the stone of the cave systems, and carried anomalous radiation that has warped the life growing there. In the few instances where the anomalous radiation has escaped to the surface, it cools quickly into a crystalline structure whose properties defy conventional physics. Those who have studied the crystals have found ways to release or shape the energy within to create effects that seem almost magical. This backdrop for a world setting could have applications in writing a novel, whether the source of the crystals is identified or their power simply used as part of an overarcing drama. It could also make for an interesting backdrop for a fantasy game world. It would depend a lot on druthers and the kind of stories the author wants to tell.Which do you think a world like this would suit better: a fantasy game, or a fantasy novel?
