On my bitcoin node, whenever I go to copy the address to transact, it generates a new address every time. I understand at some level that wallets due this for certain reasons but how does this work as far as "cumulative" transactions. Meaning, if every time I transact and I get a new generated address, how does it know what the total balance should be from all transactions? Is it just a "pointer" to my actual address?
